Writers can and should edit their own work … first

July 9, 2018 by Jeffrey Bruner

While working on the copy desk at our college newspaper, we used to hear a certain reporter say carelessly, “Eh, the editors will catch that” rather than making any effort to clean up his own content.

Don’t be that guy. We beg it of you. And The Writing Cooperative agrees with us.

Writer Annie Mueller shared several ways in which you can — and should — edit your own work, regardless of whether you’ve hired a professional editor as well. (Which, by the way, Mueller *and* Fussy both believe is a wise choice when possible!)

See what she had to say on The Writing Cooperative’s website, and check out our interview with a professional editor in the archives.
