Take a good hard look at how you’re spending your time

December 2, 2018 by Jeffrey Bruner

Dave Chesson opens a guest post on Jane Friedman’s blog with the following quote from Stephen Covey: “Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.”

We fervently hope that this doesn’t resonate with you as it does us (oh hi, memories of working for a highly understaffed nonprofit!).

If it does, though, Chesson wants you to take the time to rectify the situation, specifically by using a SWOT analysis.

SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and yes, it does require some truthful self-evaluation along with time.

Chesson believes it’s worth it, though, and he has a step-by-step guide for how to apply it to your writing business here.
