Author urges fellow writers to consider sensitivity readers

August 14, 2018 by Jeffrey Bruner

Recently we featured two guest columns from sensitivity reader (and author) Patrice Williams Marks: one explaining the service and another describing how to become one.

Now we’re sharing a piece from an author who has made great use of them.

James M. Tilton, in his own words, is a straight white male who’s spent the past four years writing a queer love story.

He writes in Publishers Weekly that he’s already used nearly a dozen sensitivity readers and expects to hire even more.

“The verdict? Sensitivity readers are hands down the best thing to ever happen to my manuscript,” he declares.

Read his full testimonial here.
