Trademark turmoil, round two
An author has withdrawn a trademark application for the word “forever” after an outcry from other authors.
Heidi McLaughlin said the filing was a misunderstanding between herself and her attorney.
The incident follows an uproar earlier this month after romance author Faleena Hopkins tried to trademark the word “cocky” for use in a series of romance novels, but then asked another author to retitle her novel merely because it had the word “cocky” in the title.
A challenge has been filed, and it could take twelve to eighteen months before the dispute is resolved.
