Settlement reached in #cockygate
A settlement has been reached in #cockygate.
Author Faleena Hopkins has surrendered her trademark registration for the word “cocky” and dropped the lawsuit against Tara Crescent, Jennifer Watson, and Kevin Kneupper, according to statements on Twitter this morning from affected parties.

Hopkins had applied for the "cocky" trademark to be used in a series of books and sent demands to some authors, including Crescent, that they retitle their books.
Not only did Crescent refuse, but Hopkins's actions inspired several parodies and anthologies with the word "cocky" in the title.
One such collection, Cocktales — written specifically to raise funds to fight against obstruction of creative expression — became an Amazon best-seller.
Watson, a book publicist, was named in Hopkins's suit for her work to promote Cocktales.
