Accountant charged with stealing from literary agency

May 27, 2018 by Jeffrey Bruner

An accountant is charged with embezzling $3.4 million from a famous New York literary agency that represents "Fight Club" author Chuck Palahniuk and the estates of Mario Puzo ("The Godfather") and Studs Turkel.

If convicted on all charges, Darin Webb, 47, faces 20 years in jail for taking $3.4 million from Donadio & Olson.

The theft allegedly happened over a seven-year period, The New York Post reports, although forensic accountants are going back over the books since Webb started working at the agency in 2001. The stolen money was intended for author royalties and advances.
